The rebellion was a major turning point in the history of modern India . In May 1858, the British exiled Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar II (r. 1837–1857) to Rangoon, Burma (now Yangon, Myanmar ), after executing most of his family, thus formally liquidating the Mughal Empire . Bahadur Shah Zafar, known as the Poet King, contributed some of Urdu 's most beautiful poetry [6] , with the underlying theme of the freedom struggle [7] . The Emperor was not allowed to return and died in solitary confinement in 1862. The Emperor's three sons, also involved in the 1857 Rebellion, were arrested and shot in Delhi by Major William Stephen Raikes Hodson of the British Indian Army.

Another possible outcome is that the interpretation of Islam by the Taliban would begin to be taught in madrasahs, effectively brain washing children in how to think and how the World should work. These children, like today’s students from current madrasahs, would join up with a terrorist group and become a part of an international Jihad aimed at Western interests, mainly those of the United States and Israel. The schools would continue to prey on refugee families in camps all over that want their children to live a better life than they had. The schools would continue to survive and continue to breed fundamental Muslims bent on the destruction of the Western culture as it is a threat to their own.

To a young boy in Nepal during the 19th and early 20th centuries, an appointment as a soldier in a Gurkha unit would have been a tremendous accomplishment. They would have been set for life.  This should not be taken as meaning they would ever sit back having got on the bottom rung of the ladder -- all wanted (and still do) to stay as long as possible and be promoted as far as possible. Although at one level Gurkhas are very good at accepting heirarchy, and always respect people older than themselves, paradoxically they are very egalitarian among their peers, and often very resentful when not picked for further promotion.

This isn’t in the paragraph quoted above, but Michael has expressed the opinion to me in person, and anyone familiar with Reactionary thought will recognize this as a staple. The theory is that monarchies had strong international law between them that prevented or settled conflicts quickly, but that democracies have the “sham” international law of the UN (exactly what makes it a sham is never explained) and constantly interfere in one anothers’ business as a continuation of their own internal politics or obsession with human rights.
